Chains and networks
Three chains, each with its own block target, its own fee market, and its own reasons to wait before treating something as settled. Protocol behaviour is not portable between them.
Bitcoin BTC
Most protocols in the Atlas live here. Protocol state on Bitcoin is almost always computed by indexers rather than enforced by consensus, which is why indexer agreement matters as much as the chain itself.

Finality
Probabilistic. Depth is confidence, never a guarantee, and a reorganisation can undo recent blocks.

The inscription model carries over from Bitcoin, but the faster block target and different fee market change practical guidance about waiting for confirmations.

Finality
Probabilistic, with a one-minute block target, so the same confirmation count represents much less elapsed work than on Bitcoin.

Zcash ZEC
Zcash has both transparent and shielded activity. Protocol records that depend on public data can only be derived from transparent activity, and this distinction is load-bearing rather than a detail.

Protocols on Zcash
Why this page exists
A confirmation count means something different on each of these chains. Six confirmations on Bitcoin represents roughly an hour of work; six on Dogecoin represents roughly six minutes. When a guide anywhere in this estate says "wait for confirmation", it means the policy recorded for that protocol on that chain, which you can read in each Atlas dossier.
