UTXO-native fungible tokens on Dogecoin, encoded as a dunestone in an OP_RETURN output. Balances live in transaction outputs and move by ordinary spending, with etching, minting, and edicts in a single data output.

Where it came from

Created outside Bitcoin Universe by The Dogecoin dunes community, 2024.

The Runes design applied to Dogecoin. A dunestone carries the same shape as a runestone: edicts, an optional etching, an optional pointer, and a cenotaph flag for a malformed message.

Dunes has no Bitcoin Universe specification repository. Its specification is bitcoinuniverseio/ord-dogecoin.

Support in Bitcoin Universe products

Dunes has no marketplace entry in the Core protocol registry, so no Bitcoin Universe product implements a trade path for it. Where a Universe indexer exists, the data is available through that indexer rather than through a product surface.
